There's a book called "Drummer Hoff" on Amazon here that these pictures are based on. It's one of those adding on kind of stories, with really great illustrations.
We always have series of pictures in our house. Sometimes whole notebooks are filled up on a single theme. I think he looks at things that way - almost like stop action animation.
